In February and March, we had about five weeks in Tasmania, staying mainly at Sisters Beach on the NW coast. We were there to see Sal's family, some walking, running and birding. A special part was a nine day whitewater rafting trip down the remote Franklin River in SWTasmania. Also excursions to Leven Canyon , Robbins Island and to Corinna with a cruise on the Pieman River. And, of course, our doggies provided endless companionship and enjoyment.

RUNNING
RAFTING DOWN THE FRANKLIN
This trip turned out to something special. It had a mixture of adventure, adrenalin rush, discovery and reflection. It was physically arduous given our average age for the group was probably over 70, some of us found it difficult as our strength, mobility and robustness had declined from where we were in our younger years. That said, the motivation and enthusiasm to experience this wonderful location and its challenges, was embraced with gusto. The camaraderie amongst our group was high, and we all did our best. The story of how the Franklin River and this remarkable World Heritage remote wilderness preserved for future generations, resonated with our group. Also at a personal level, it was a spiritual experience. The majesty of this environment, with its raging rivers, ancient trees and ecology is forever embedded in my heart.
