This extended trip was much anticipated, particularly after an anxious summer with the bushfires. A chance for Sallee to see her family, whilst housesitting for her sister. We had our two dogs and three other furry ones to look after. I was planning on doing a couple of trail races, and then some serious training for the Ultra 50km in May in the Blue Mountains. Additionally I was gathering ideas and images (landscapes, platypus and adventure) for a photo exhibition planned for April when we returned. A seven day trip rafting down the Franklin River was going to be the highlight. Some bushwalking, visiting friends and chilling out was also on the agenda.
Of course nothing went to plan. COVID-19 changed everything and added to all our "minor inconveniences." After the accident, moving to different places, unable to drive, on crutches and doing physio and rehab, photography was limited. When NW Tasmania was declared a COVID hotspot, the hospital was declared unsafe and shut down. Health care workers were n quarantine and pretty much the region was told to isolate at home. We retreated to a shack at idyllic Sisters Beach where many of these photos were taken...many on an iphone.
