A few favourite birds from recent trips to Mooney Beach, Ocean Shores and Hawks Nest on the NSW North Coast. A beautiful part of the world. Over 50 species sighted, mainly in narrow coastal bush areas next to beaches and mud flats. Mainly bush birds, shorebirds and waders and a few raptors. Bumped into a kangaroo at dawn, so put him in amongst the birds.
The The striking Regent Bowerbird is shown as the cover image.
Shorebirds, seabirds and waders on the sandbanks at Mooney Beach. Also saw both the Eastern Curlew and Whimbrel. Some like the Pied Oystercatcher and Beach-stone Curlew are threatened in this area.n Curlew and Whimbrel.
Honeyeaters, wattlebirds and friarbirds are common, as is the Eastern Whipbird (alas no photo this time).
